The History of the Farm Boy Fuel Hand

Historical increases in energy & fuel prices flooded Farm Boy with business from the beginning, quickly requiring us to put more and more equipment into service. Next thing we knew, it was costing over $5,000 to fill all of our equipment. In an effort to keep our costs down, we decided to investigate the concept of making our own biodiesel.

A great deal of investigation went into finding the perfect unit. After weeks of intensive research, we finally decided to take a tour around the country to find the ideal unit, and the results were shocking. Not one unit we found looked as good in person as it did online. The safety issues themselves were unbelievable: Poorly connected rubber tubing and garden hose to plastic tanks housing methanol and sodium hydroxide - both extremely flammable and caustic. You couldn’t even insure them. Along with being highly dangerous, the units’ quality of fuel was poor at best, and could not legally be used under EPA standards. We weren’t too interested in incurring the wrath of the EPA or the Federal Government, and we gave up. Or so we thought.

Approximately one week later, we received a phone call from an oil press manufacturer. The manufacturer pointed us toward an inventor and farmer from Neillsville, Wisconsin. Reluctantly, we headed to Neillsville, and the rest is history. To quote an old saying, “We liked the company so much, we bought it!”

Biodiesel Fuel Quality

Farm Boy Bio Diesel: The only legal choice.

Fuel-grade biodiesel must be produced to strict industry specifications (ASTM D6751) in order to ensure proper performance - which the Farm Boy Fuel Hand is made to produce. Biodiesel is the only alternative fuel to have fully completed the health effects testing requirements of the 1990 Clean Air Act Amendments.

Also, biodiesel from the Farm Boy Fuel Hand meets ASTM D6751 and can be legally registered with the Environmental Protection Agency as a legal motor fuel for sale, distribution, and legal road use. The government will also issue $1/gallon production tax credit on crop oils and $.50/gal on recycled vegetable oils.
